Walking back to my hotel from the Jardin de Tocqueville I saw this curious sight. I don't pretend to know anything about brickwork, but it seems to me that there are at least three generations of handiwork shown here. Can anyone verify. Might there have been a fire to cause the necessity for the larger square bricks curving up from the bottom?

I also liked the windows. One of the things I really appreciated about Paris is the fact that the shutters are functional. Not like here in Virginia. Locally, most window "shutters" are for decoration only.

belle photo de cet immeuble très photogénique. Ces briques différentes lui donnent un aspect très intéressant. Couleurs et lumière magnifiques.

ces murs sont superbes! le cadrage vertical est impressinnant et la couleur des briques au soleil "ça flash" un max ! ☺
je crois que le mur latéral est un mur de cheminées; on voit bien les arrivées en haut et certaines qui ne démarent qu'en cours de mur (d'ailleurs ce sont peut être des cheminées d'aération et pas de chauffage)
les dôles de plus grosses briques sint en fait des tuyaux!

After thinking about it since seeing your image for the first time, they are hollow block bricks, acting as air vents from the various apartments to the roof. I Think?
