|On the northwest coast of Zakynthos island lies a sandy beach (Navagio Beach) accessible only by boat. It's also called "shipwreck beach" on "smuggler's cove" because, in 1980, a Greek ship (the "MV Panagiotis") went aground there. The ship was thought to be carrying contreband and was scuttled there for insurance purposes. In fact, the ship had encountered a severe storm, and after a mechanical failure, floundered on the beach.|
