Today's trip - to Basrah and back. Only an hour on the ground, and shot with my trusty Nokia mobile 'phone!

Into the sun, although it wasn't too hot... Talk about flat countryside!! The place is like a billiard table!

Not much of a shot, but at least I can log one in Iraq...

Fabulous light management in this contre-jour presentation, David. I like the highlights on the aircraft from this burning sun on one side and the huge vehicle on the other.
Great balance in your work!
Such a sharp capture considering this from a mobile phone!
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Hello David,
A fantastic photo shoot against the light and an exciting point of view. Reflection of light from the fuselage and wing is intense and beautifully depicting atmospheric heat. A fabulous snapshot, well done. Thanks for sharing.
Best Wishes,

Hi david..A good shot from a cell phone...I went to preschool in Basrah... never been there after ...I am surprised by the high quality of a cell shot considering its against-the sun.

Lovely shot of the plane, with the long shadows and the bright sun. Nicely composed. That flat landscape looks like it could be Saskatchewan!!

Hi David

I like the perspective here & wideangled view. Good sharpness & well controlled exposure on the shadows. Not much anyone can do about the strong highlights. I've flown Emirates & they're a good airline. Tfs!

You are one lucky mofo Capt. Jessop... but, I don't think its luck in either case; be it your an aviator and a stellar shooter to boot... even with a mobile! Just goes to show the best camera is the one you have on you, always... Nice composition and terriffic exposure of this aircraft... Dare I guess It's an a330? based on the rakes and the dbl bogies, (only)...? I know you explained you were flying the long-haul a340-500's but this aeroplane looks a bit different... lessin' it be a 767... but... i'll stick to airbus for me guess... Also, are versed in both Boesing and Airbus... or only Airbus... Both great manufactuers I might add... Once again, avaitin photo's still the show... well done mate!
