This magnificent building, which looks like something out of a Harry Potter or a Lord of the Ring movie set, is the Parliamentary Library in Ottawa. I posted an interior picture of this place two days ago under the title “Old World Elegance”. This is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular old buildings that I have ever visited anywhere in the world.

Built in the later years of the 19th century, this is the only building that survived the fire of 1916, which pretty much destroyed most of the main parliament buildings. These were rebuilt between years 1916 – 1922.

If you ever happen to be in Ottawa, spare a few hours and visit the Canadian Parliament. Architecturally, it is an amazing place. You can take a 45 minute guided tour of the place and it will blow you away. Unfortunately you can not say the same thing about the people who work there!

No PP in this picture. I captured this just as a thunderstorm swept over Ottawa.

Lol at the title! Good shot of this imposing cathedral, with marvellous colour & sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Sunil, so you were in Ottawa last week? Hope you didn't get caught in the thunder Storm! But here it does bring a sense of mystery like in Harry Potter :)

Well done. Take care, Yan :)

Hi Sunil,
An interesting subject for photography, I agree!
Lots of interesting details in the architecture, and I like the symmetrical composition...
Good colours and fine details, but I feel I miss something since you cut the spire...

Hi Sunil,
Excellent photo, I like how it's different from what we are use to see of this library, the mood you have from it goes very well with the title. Very well done.
Luc

Like the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa as well looks like Hogwarts (^_^). I like the tones you used to craete this mysterious mood. Surealist a bit. But not too much!
Well done Linus!
