Taken at the Reptile Park, Ti Point, near Leigh. Situated in a secluded valley covered with native bush the Reptile Park displays a unique collection of both native and exotic reptiles of many different varieties. There is even an American Alligator at the park.
Auckland Green Gecko Naultinus elegans elegans. From the upper half of the North Island , habits similar to Northland Green Gecko. It is smaller in size than the Northland species and the inside of its mouth and tongue a much deeper shade of mauve. Occasionally the green is replaced by a sulphur-yellow colour but the lizard may still be mottled with a lighter colour. This colour varient does appear in some of the other species of green geckos. Normally the young are produced in August but at the Reptile Park they sometimes appear in the Autumn which is not unusual for others in captivity.
PP work: This took quite a bit of PP work to get it to an acceptable standard as the photo was taken through the glass of the enclosure, even using the CPL didn’t reduce all of the reflection, also the glass was very dirty. I decided on a severe crop as this was the only way to remove a bad reflection on the right, when I took this shot only the head was showing through the foliage. I used Topaz Adjust to bring up the details and colour, Topaz Adjust has a very effect Noise Filter which has helped greatly.
Thanks for looking. |

Nice capture Ralph especially through glass, I know how difficult it is to capture subjects through glass, great result. My workshop is a slight boost in sharpness and saturation
