[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
On September 27th this year my friend and occasional model, Shane, tied the knot with the charming and disarming Stuart.

Understandably, Stuart prefers to call his wife by her given name - Sherryl Ann.

This was a crop from a larger shot - technically could be better, I cut the bouquet and Stuart's face isn't well shown, but the happiness on Sherryl Ann's face was something I wanted to share.

Technically as you say could be better but indeed shows her joy very well! The diffused lighting from what was perhaps another cloudy day in Auckland has given fairly even tones and textures..

The DOF is pretty much perfect - they are both sharply focused yet the BG is blurred enough to help your subjects stand out clearly..

Cheers
DAvid

Superb moment for a superb couple.
I think you could go with the crop even further.
See WS

thanks,

Olá Rew,
It's not easy to imagine what could be better by a simple analyse here. See WS from Vlad: it's nice but losses the shallow DOF that is one of virtues from your shot.
I like very much this post.
Cheers,
raimundo

beautiful image Rew, you captured a happy moment here... it seems that the groom cannot stop looking at his wife... You can feel the love and composition with their body language.. nicely framed and well executed shot... TFS kaibigan.

Hello Rew,

I always feel that if a photographer evokes the correct emotion from a viewer, he has achieved his aim.
I smiled with utter pleasure at the happiness on Sheryl-Ann's face. Your focus is perfect as is the dof.
I just wondered if you needed such a wide shot for your purpose so I have done a w/s concentrating just on the expressions. Perhaps I've cropped it a little too tight. What do you think?

Have a good day,
Bev :-)
p.s. Congratulations to your friends!

Hi Rew!

A lovely photo indeed. I've learned that a portrait is much more difficult than composing a landscape photo, and I struggle greatly with this. I see you used a 100mm for the mid-body shot. I remember you telling me this. I like this outdoors photo.

I didn't sign my photo today...I might be growing up a bit. :)

you captured the moment here so perfectly, mate.
so nice are the colours and lighting - showing the details and textures simply lovely.

Hi Rew,

This shot shows that good photography isn't only about the technical aspects. They are important of course, but this golden moment is well captured and shows the pure joy in Sherryl Ann's face. Well done and TFS.

Best regards,
Werner

Great Rew. Sherryl Ann's expression is priceless! Indeed a happy day for the two of them.
I have looked at the two workshops posted, and I think I prefer what Vlad did, however I would have gone just a little lower to include the entire V of the neckline of her dress.
Great job .. I like this!
Trudy

Hi Rew,

Technical goes out the window with a image like this, her smile is worth a thousand perfect images.

Lovely warm shot of your friends wedding, nice one Rew.

Douglas

HI Rew...the emotions between them are what is important...in the end that is all they will see and remember....nice shot.

Roger

Such a nice couple, Rew, I love her sweet smile and he is looking down to her face full of love.
Thanks, a wonderful moment

I prefer this image to the close crop that Bev has presented, I don't like cropping heads and I think the bouquet complements the button hole that Stuart has.

You don't need to see his face to understand the bond between the two of them. This is a lovely moment.

Hi Rew, Good double portrait style. I actually like the close up WS you have added also. The happy bubbly face of the new brde says it all. Good work. TFS, Murray.

Hi Rew, very nice photo. What I like the most is the free expression of the woman. Very natural! Very nice in sharpness. Sothy

Hi Rew,

Yes you are forgiven for the cut bouquet. The couple with their giddy happiness is well captured. As Teresa would say, a photo with soul.
