Hum another one from Ecuador, this one of a young boy scrutinizing the action , the crowd shall i say from a ledge along the side of the main lot, this is the Otavalo market, the most famous in Ecuador and known all over the world as tourists come from all corners of the planet to attend this gorgeous and friendly indigenous Ecuadorian market. This is the animal market here , a little over one km from the town centre , it certainly draws many traders from the region and farther afield, i saw quite a few tourists here and many more in town later on ,oh yers the animal market is already at its best about 6 AM , naturally the busier it is the later it ends , i took this picture at 8.30 and it was still going strong ! Originally I arrived at 6 and saw lots of animals : sheep , horses , cows , pigs and of course chickens change hands in a few minutes. Interesting for photography too as the friendly traders are accustomed to tourists and their cameras , i felt it ! In town a little later say from 8 Am on till late afternoon it's the craft market smack in the centre of town that draws the crowd of tourists , some like me having checked in a hotel the night before !
The Otavalenos are the wealthiest and most commercially succesful in Ecuador and it shows in the quality of the handicrafts on sale here , a very very colourful affair indeed ! I loved it ! Yes i purchased a few things well i could not do away with the barganing !
Thank you for looking,
iso 100, f/4.5 1/125, upped gamma a few increments in PP as it was very overcast ,sharpened,
Carol

Hi Carol,
Instructive comment for an original picture ! Good composition who show us people on the right and give the key of your comment. Prfect sharp compo and good light. Well done
Best regards
John

Hey Carol, another great one from Ecuador! and the accompanying note is fantastic! Thanks for the great story!
The boy and his chicken are very sharp against the concrete wall - fantastic light and colors. You know, at first I wondered about showing the edge of the wall, and the people in the market behind - wondered if it was a little distracting, but after reading your note, it does add to the scene. I even tried to do a different crop with your shot, but nope .. in the end I agree with you .. leave it as it is!!
Great one my friend

Hi Carol,
Beautiful picture, the candid shot of the boy and his chicken both looking on to something more interesting. The focus is good, sharp and the PoV is great for this image. You so often see kids with there dogs or cats...can't say we see many chickens though I know this is not a pet. TFS

Hi Carol
He looks like he is venturing into that market for the firdt time and is not sure about having to sell his friend to a stranger. You included just enough of the crowds on the right to give us a sense of the market.
Phil

A nice capture of this boy and his rooster. Do they have cock fights there? Good colors and detail. I'm surprised to see the hat and warm clothing...isn't it really hot there? TFS

ooohh a difficult one for me Carol.
Almost two photos in one : the boy and the chicken and you gave us a glimp of the market but
not enough to tell " the story "
So another POV would have been better IMO, meaning you a bit more to the left.

Again, I like the colours in general but the grass behind the chicken looks unnatural green to me.
He, I'm a city boy so it may be the natural thing :-)

Thanks for the story ! Do like to read those first hand comments of people who are actually been there.

Greetings
Jan
