Another experiment from film to JPG from the Galapagos Islands. This was taken at the Darwin Center in Puerto Ayora. Lonesome George is the only tortoise remaining of this particular breed despite all efforts to get him to reproduce. Hope this survived the conversion. Have a great day!
From Wikipedia:
Lonesome George (Spanish: Solitario Jorge) is the last known individual of the Pinta Island tortoise (Chelonoidis nigra abingdoni), which is one of eight to fifteen extant subspecies of Galápagos tortoise, all of which are native to the Galápagos Islands. He has been labeled the rarest creature in the world, and he is a potent symbol for conservation efforts in the Galápagos and conservation efforts internationally. It is thought that he was named after a character played by American actor George Gobel.
George was first seen on the island of Pinta on 1 December 1971 by Hungarian malacologist József Vágvölgyi. The island's vegetation had been devastated by introduced feral goats, and the indigenous G. n. abingdoni population had been reduced to a single individual. Relocated for his safety to the Charles Darwin Research Station, George was penned with two females of a different subspecies, but although eggs have been produced, none has hatched.
George is estimated to be about 100 years of age, and he is in good health. A prolonged effort to exterminate goats introduced to Pinta is now complete, and the vegetation of the island is starting to return to its former state.

Lori,
On a PBS episode on the Galapagos fauna they covered Lonesome George's story. A great opportunity for you to have captured this fella. I think I like the original image over your WS version.
Very Nice Moment

Hello Lori,
this is a beautiful Galapagos tortoise and an interesting note.
The sharpness and details are very good.Best regards Siggi

Hi Lori,

This shot didn't work that good for me!

I feel that details are missing to an extent in this picture from this cute tortoise, kindly pardon me for my openness. In addition, the size of the picture is too small to highlight the details in larger format.
I think picture is suffered by large over-cropping? Don't know the reason exactly..

Hope you don't take it personally.

Looking forward to see more of your good work.

Best regards,
Paras

Hi Lori
good capture of Lonesome George, the impressive tortoise. well done with the composition to bring its face closer in the FG.
your PP work from film to JPG didn't do good enough with the colors and details. in WS I tried to sharpen the image. I hope you like it.

HI Lori,
A moment to cherish - I wish I could get to the islands for a few shots. Nice framing of the Tortoise but a little noisy, could possibly need the contrast increased a touch. Great PoV and well worth converting to digital. Best wishes
Bri
