| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
I stumbled apon this desolated and uninhabatable old farm house on a deserted dirt road in the Karoo. The house seems to have been in use as a sleeping place for goats and sheep for years.
Imagine my surprise when I got to the Back stoep and found this old Indesit Dish Washer standing there.
I changed the original photo from colour to Greyscale to fit the mood. |

Great tones and subject.

Hi Ryno
You have captured the mood with the change to greyscale perfectly.
It talks of loneliness to me! very dramatic.
The composition, exposure and focus are all spot on.
Maybe you could of cleard the net from the pillars and taken this shot also.
Regards
Martin
Hello Ryno,
I like the B/W version as it does in fact relate to a lost livlihood on this farm. One can tell that once this great house was filled with life and laughter, and had many tea parties on the veranda. The old dishwasher, faded paint on the walls and the failing facade alongside the pillars all add the flavor of life now passed.
Well Done...
Steve

Hi Ryno
I also agree that a colour shot would not have portrayed the mood of this place well enough. You have done a great job here and I like it just as is. I can remember a house of my grandmother's brother where we used to play on a stoep just like this one as children. So you brought back a few memories (that tells my age :-) too.
