This wonderful sculpt was installed a couple of weeks ago in a small (new) park in San Francisco. I was so excited to see it that I ran down there with my camera two evenings ago, but didn't have time to write down the name of the artist or the actual name of the sculpt itself, which I will do, and will insert it here.
When this little park was created another interesting art installation was in place from the Burning Man Festival with the promise of more art installations to come. That barely materialized, but this one almost makes up for the lack of these recent years.
The sculpt is made up of small flat, sharp-edged pieces of steel which have been welded together. It amazes me how much shape the artist was able to simulate to the figures body and musculature. Its face, which you can only barely see in this photo is strange, if you could even call it a face . . . it's more like a star or sun burst. I'll post that later. There's also an elegantly sculpted spider on the waterfront which I also photographed and I'll post that guy another day too.
Hope you like it. |

Hello Richard,
This is a wonderful sculpture, made all the more interesting from your cleverly chosen pov. He looks ready to set off at any moment!
Maybe a little blurring on the b/g would have made him even more impressive!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

A fascinating sculpture, and your POV works well to capture it in this setting. I like how the background light shows through the filigreed structure. Hmmm...I wonder what is going on with the head. Good shot, Richard:)
Very good shot Richard. Nice composition and clever subject to select. Can't exactly tell what the position of the sculpture is conveying, which is either the objective of the sculpter or your composition.
Kind regards,
Jim
