Dear Friends,

haha late posting malaysian time at 12.35 midnight here.. actually i don't know what to post.. i was thinking of my sunsets but i change my mind.. :)

instead i post this [wild iguana] sorry actually its a Water Monitor captured at the back of my house.. he was walking/running so fast when i took this shot and entered the death river nearby.. i have to cropped the tail because it is too long to put in one picture..

a bit about this Water Monitor where we call it Biawak here.. The Water monitor, Varanus salvator is a member of the monitor lizard family. They are large lizards growing up to 3 meters (9.8 ft) in length, but most adults are 1.5 meters (4.9 ft) long at most, and are close in size to the Komodo Dragon. Maximum weight of Varanus salvator can be over 75 kg, but most are half that size. Their body is muscular with a long powerful tail. Water monitors are perhaps the most common monitor lizards in Asia, and range from Sri Lanka, India, Indochina, the Malay Peninsula and various islands of Indonesia, living in tropical forested areas.

Water monitors are aggressive even though they can be tamed in captivity. They use both their tail and jaw when fighting. They are excellent swimmers, using their raised fin located on their tails to steer through fresh and salt water.
They lay 15-30 eggs.

i hope it suitable for this week 3 in 1 theme.. not so clear because of the resizing in photofilter.. anyway thanks Smurfie :D

hope you guys like it.. thanks for looking.. time for me to hit my pillow.. night night everyone..

cheers, terry

Good presentation of an interesting subject, although it's a monitor lizard rather than an iguana ;-)
Details are sharp but colours seem a little muted. Out of the three you've definately chosen the best for the largest picture.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hi Terry,

Did you really chase after this biawak? Very brave lah you. Considering the situation, I think you did well on this photo and I'd say it suits the theme. Lambat lagi la saya contribute utk theme ni (lagi..)Ketandusan idea bah..

Selamat pagi, dear Terry.
Nice look at the water monitor.
As it was too long to be complete on the picture, you could have devided into 3 parts (no not by knife)
1-The head, 2-the body, 3- the tail.
Have a nice day, Terry
Regards from Jan

Aku amat-amati pic ni..betul lah biawak..aku ingatkan bankarong..:)K jua ni Boom shot ko ni,masih detailnya bagus..memanglah kalau ambik pic yang cepat bergerak ni mesti ada sedikit ghosting..tapi atu kan minor kesalahan ja..

Hello Terry

You had to time very fast your shots, because they are
so fast and when they leave running, he doesn't have as reaching!
But he was good for you and it let to serve as model for you.
Well captured beauty.
Sharpness and colors are perfect...
Congratulations my friend...

Ah...good 3-in-1 combination for the theme! The large shot shows extra detail of the lizard's underside that is interesting to see. Good catch and collage work:)

Always tricky getting the detail after resizing for a collage Terry. A good submission for the theme and the larger image has enough detail to show what they look like. Very similar in looks to one that appears on the mainland down here.

Hi Terry,
I'm rather glad we don't have these guys roaming through our gardens.
I see what you mean about their tales, they are very long.
Thank you for showing us a little of your local fauna.
Pete.
