Hi Erik! Personnally, I think this is a wonderful photo. I can't adiquately put it in words, and I'm writing a book. Awesome composition!

Bonjour Éric,
D'abord intriguante au premier coup d'œil sur la vignette, cette photo devient très touchante dès qu'elle est ouverte. Ta composition est créative et pleine de symbolisme. J'aime cette main qui s'accroche à l'espoir qu'elle peut trouver....sinon c'est la descente dans le vide.

Jolie composition et de toute beauté cette photo..
j'aime bien cette main qui s'accroche à demander quelques choses dont seul le maitre-d'oeuvre de la photo connait et s'accroche à ce pied de la croix, je dirais une consolation spirituelle et personnelle...

A truly thought-provoking piece.

This has to fall into the category of art, not least because its interpretation is entirely up to the viewer: it's clear "what" we are looking at, but what it means and what the wider context may be is entirely up to speculation.

Engaging the imagination of an observer is a very powerful tool, and you have used it well.

Technically - it's sharp, well composed, well metered. The only thing I'm really not keen on is the signature on the left, it could be argued that the only purpose it serves is to bolster the photographer's ego, since it would take less than 5 seconds to crop or clone out of the pic.

Salut Erik,

J'ai tout simplement un faible pour ce genre de photo. Une idée, un concept que révèlé une image. S'accrocher a sa foi, et ce sans etre religieux, est sans doute l'une des expressions la plus representative et plus commune dans le monde entier.

Bonne exposition, les couleurs sont bien balance, mais j'aurais sans doute ajouter un peu de jaune et rouge, pour "rechauffer" la teinte de la peau de la main qui me semble legerement magenta. Et aussi augmenter d'un trait le contrast..))) Une simple question de goût personnel. Très beau travail.

Hier ben ik weer ...
even terug bekijken - we gaan niet over 1-nacht-ijs :-)
Het gevoelen " troost in geloof " daarin volg ik je.
Het " aanklampen " vind ik dus origineel gevonden.
Maar ik zoek een betekenis voor het haar tussen de vingers.
Weet er geen blijf mee.
Voor mij is dat een beetje " bij het haar gegrepen "
:-)
Neen hoor, vond het alleen een toepasselijke uitdrukking LOL
Ok, het volledige bericht mis ik dus
niet erg.

This is a critically underrated piece with amazing power, Erik!
The multiple textures speak volumes, the composition is perfect and the colours striking.
What makes it work particularly well is that you have put the hair between the fingers and over the toe on the hit point, conveying a far different message from the usual.
Truly superb work.
