These coffee shops can be seen almost everywhere in Amsterdam. Well, everyone knows that the name "coffee shop" is a euphemism for a store that sells pot - legally.

Most of these shops are decorated nicely... often with a reference to The Doors. On this one, I liked the warning written below Jim Morrison's head.

And Hans, you were right all along... Amsterdam is a very beautiful, busy but cute city. I'll be back ;o).

Croppity-crop.

Downsized for TL.

Boosted saturation to 120.

Cloned out some ugly bits of waste on the pavement.

Hi Frank, good catch. Makes me think of a friend of mine who took her elderly mother to A'dam, and the old lady could not understand why her daughter would not take her to one of those places 'for a cup of coffee'.

Sorry out of greens

Hi Frank

Nice shot of this cafe! I like the colors. Very natural. Nice POV also. Good work.

hi Frank! thanks for sharing this....really cool signage and graphics especially the one below - no entry to those below 18:) just dropped by, and smiled when i saw this. take care.

I haven't been to A'dam for more than 10 years, but it sure is a colourful place ! There are as many coffee-shop-styles as there are restaurants or pubs, with one thing in common : you're very relaxed when you come out after having a good coffee :-) From the stickers on the window I can see something is forbidden, 'what' is not clear. Don't tell me you can't smoke in there :-)
I love the old shop that hasn't been changed for a modern facade, and the splashing colours.
I hope you enjoyed your "trip" ;-)

Interesting and colorful sign. Looks like the warning is repeated on the LED ticker sign on top of Morrison too. The fact that the window is pretty much obscured and no one seems around makes me very curious about what is going on in that coffee shop. However I think it would have been also interesting to have someone walk away from the bar in this shot. Good work and TFS.

Hey maaaaaan, I missed an Amsterdam:-))
I see Jim, this is the Nieuwendijk indeed !
The strong colours are nice here, also full of details everywhere, but you had to crop the street in the foreground, nice shot, Frank !

Bravo, Frank! Very interesting story and an informative picture. A very interesting "coffee shop", that restricts even the entrance for those under 18 years old... wow. I have seen coffee shops there, but have never known the story behind them... TFS! Is it on Raadhaasstraat? I think, I used to pass it by... Oh, no, - Nieuwendijk - this is the street's name, correct?
The picture is very colorful, like Amsterdam itself, I like that. ...Pink color is rather popular there... ;)

Hello Frank. Nice shot of this colorful subject. We like the direct approach of the cafe owners notice "and dont fvck around" Made us laugh. Thanks for sharing.

Regards Phil.
