| Présentation: | September 2009 update I have returned to graduate studies - which is a very heavy time commitment at the moment. God willing, I will have a little time in December (in between terms). July 15, 2008 update As I become more mobile once again, able to walk on my own, I will also be bringing more new shots into my gallery. Thank you for your patience with me!! January 15, 2008 update I have once more done a bit of "house-cleaning" keeping only images that I am truly fond of. I cannot post on a daily basis, but I shall certainly check your photos to see what you're up to! I hope to see you in the Friday Challenges, if at no other time -- thanks to Helen Matten for setting that up. Silke, Lady of the Lens April 15, 2007 I am still an amateur at heart in this wonderful world of photography even though I have been behind the lens since I was 12 years old. I started out with a Werra and my own hand-rolled B&W film, & I spent more time in the darkroom than I did shooting in those early years. I made the leap into the digital world only about 4 years ago, starting with a Sony Mavica on loan from McGill University. I signed that camera out one weekend after another and had a wonderful time capturing as much of Montreal as I could. The first digital camera I owned was (& still is) the Nikon Coolpix 5700. It's now a good backup to my recent acquisition: a Nikon D70S. The latter is a joy to work with (and uses a tenth of the battery power that the Coolpix did!!) I enjoy shooting anything and everything and, thanks to your encouragement, have begun experimenting with odd subjects. I look forward to hearing what you have to say about my cock-eyed view of the world. As for critiquing your shots, I do have a request: Although every picture should speak for itself artistically this site is a place to learn and to share (what, why, how). In other words, no note, no critique! Forgive me if I do not write a thank you note to everyone because I am dreadfully pressed for time & would rather spend my few minutes online critiquing.
