Instead of having my own mode of transportation to flit from place to place taking pictures of all the marvels LA has to offer (beaches, Getty museum, etc.) I had to take a cab from the house where I was staying with the Lloyds to the Burbank Train station. I had to purchase a day pass (which thankfully covered metro as well). I had to ride the train to Union Station and pick up the Red Line Metro and take it to the Gold Line to the Pico station where I had to walk 3 blocks to the convention center.... ...it was nice visit to private Ralli Museum with private collection. The collection is rich. It includes paintings of famous modern and old artists. Permanent and changing exhibitions. While in San Francisco for a wedding of one of our dear friends we decided to visit:

• Sonoma to tour a family-friendly winery where the kids could learn how wine is made

• The Jelly Belly Factory

• Mrs. Grossman's Sticker Factory

• Yosemite National Park for the first time as a family. We spent 3 days and nights there and it was glorious. I had nursed ideas of being a modern-day Ansel Adams, but that lasted all of 5 minutes once we arrived. (11 photos)

This year, I spent June 1 & 2 Gawai at Kampong Semban, Bidayuh village cited at 3300ft amidst the mountains near border Kalimantan and above the misty morning clouds. Trekking 13km up and down 500ft to 3300ft of Borneo highlands' jungle trails in at least 4hours to reach destination. Read and hope you enjoy the trip like I do.

I took my children camping at Sherando Lake in Lyndhurst, Virginia (about 30 miles south-west of Charlottesville). We arrived at the campground at 10:30 PM Friday night and didn't know that they close & lock the gate each night at 10:00 PM. So we slept the first night in the car at the gate until they opened it Saturday morning at 6:00 AM. The camping was excellent and there were many things to photograph which I plan on sharing with you... (5 photos)

Nothing fancy and extravagant in 2009 . After two years without getting out of the country, we finally opted to head South. This time for Mexican Riviera Maya.

Relaxing most of the time at the resort, but we did some excursions around. I will share with you some of these souvenirs. (19 photos)

May 2009, my wife and I wanted to go to Memphis, Tennessee and spend the weekend at the Peabody Hotel and wander around Memphis. In researching the things to do in Memphis, I found there is a big celebration called "Memphis in May" and cannot get a room at the Peabody - it is already booked for that first weekend of the month. That weekend has "The Beale Street Music Festival" - 63 bands are scheduled to play over three days and nights.... (full story) (24 photos)

This year I accompanied two classes of year 7 to their classtrip. We went sailing on the Ijsselmeer and the North Sea.
The two ships were both around 100 years old. The children had to work and help with setting the sails and all the other things you have to do to make a sailing ship move across the water. It was a great experience for them and it helped them to become a "community".
I enjoyed the week in the Netherlands, it almost felt like being on holiday.
